Last week we looked at the Apple operating system (OS) and discussed the benefits of having an iPhone. This week we’re going to look at the Windows OS. We’ll look into the positive points and see what makes it outstanding.

What Makes Windows Great

With the new release or Windows 8.1, Windows has definitely stepped up a notch in their phone’s OS. While it is still a work in progress, here is what Windows 8.1 is capable of:

1. Action center – It has been long awaited, but it’s here! Instead of clicking on the messages app or Facebook app, Action Center now allows you to view your notifications. It even has shortcuts to things such as Wifi and Bluetooth or you can customize it to your liking.

2. Cortana – First there was Siri, then S Voice now there’s Cortana, the newest personal phone assistant. She helps you with scheduling appointments, lets you know the weather, and even has a funny personality. She’ll tell you jokes and respond in humorous ways to silly questions.

3. More modern hardware – Windows now allows you to save apps to an SD card in case you run out of storage. Windows even supports dual Sim-card devices.

4. More personalization options – You can now set a picture at the start screen and it moves behind the Live Tiles. The battery saver lets you know which apps are taking up the most space and the calendar has been improved as well.

Features Windows Offers

1. Integrates with Microsoft 360 and Hotmail -This is probably the best thing about having a Windows phone. It’s blends in seamlessly! If you need to open a document or some other kind of file, you don’t have to worry about it causing issues.

2. Send apologies – Running late for a meeting? Or possibly a lunch date? Simply go to the appointment you are late for on your calendar and click the running man. A generic message will come up stating your running late. You can customize this to your liking. Once you’re done, it’ll send your message.

3. Xbox is on Windows – You can listen to music, play games, movies and more! Access this from home or on the go.

Which Phone?

Many Windows phones are available, but here are the newest ones: Microsoft Lumina 532 and 435, Asus Transformer Book T90, T100 and T300 Chi.

In Conclusion…

So there you have it! The three leading phone companies and what their products are capable of. We hope these points will help you in making a good decision as to which phone is right for you. So the final question remains: Which phone will you choose?
