Happy Computing Tip #92
Mobile Shopping Guide: Apple iPhone
By Switch, the I.T. Support Robot

Last week we looked at the Android operating system (OS) and discussed the benefits of having an Android. This week we’re going to look at the Apple OS and see what makes it great!

Why is Apple Great?

1. Quick and easy to use – The iPhone and iPad are definitely “tech-savy”. Their layout has stayed the same since their debut, with exceptions to the look of their apps.

2. Security – Apple security is top notch! They are second to none. You can be rest assured that your confidential information for work and play is more likely to be kept safe.

3. Better, faster connectivity – Now you have to worry less about your phone trying to connect to the Internet. Bonus: It was already fast before, now it’s even faster!

4. Easy to integrate into other apple devices (Macbook, iPad, etc.) – This is very convenient because now you can have all your info from work right there on your iPad, Mac, or Macbook. If you’re working on an important project with a due date, you can have the whole project on your home computer, iPad, or your iPhone.

Cool Features Apple Offers

1. Apple Pay – This is definitely handy! You can now use your phone to pay. How cool is that! “There’s no need to open an app or even wake your display…To pay, just hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID.” – Apple

2. Maps and navigations – New and improved! Instead of boring step-by-step instructions, Apple Maps now takes you turn by turn. It also allows you to see what traffic is like, let’s you flyover areas, and if you’re lost, use Siri. She can help you get back on track.

Which iPhone for me?

All of the available iPhones have the same layout, look and feel. The only minor differences are cosmetic: different colors, some have a glass front while others have a plastic one, and different sizes. For the longest time, Apple was devoted to having their phone stay within a certain size range. However, with the debut of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, that’s all changed. Next week we will talk about the other popular phone operating system, Windows. Stay tuned!
