We all depend on email for our business and personal communications.  Modern email systems are amazingly powerful and useful, but if we are careless, email can get us in a lot of trouble. 😯

If we don’t exercise caution we could easily fall into the trap of the malicious hands of cyber criminals. They can trick us into sharing our personal information and can cause us to lose control over our email.

What Can You Do?

Awareness is the greatest weapon for defending yourself from malicious emails.

Here are just two types of emails to watch out for:

1. Phishing Emails: These are designed to look legitimate, but ultimately they trick you into revealing sensitive information or downloading harmful attachments.
2. Scare Tactic Emails: These are designed to scare you with false alarms about how infected your computer is. You will be presented with offers to buy their protection, but its really just a scheme to get your credit card info.

Always Be Alert and Aware

We don’t mean to scare you, the majority of the emails we get is either legitimate, or advertising. We just want you to  A few simple habits will help you stay safe. Remember don’t click a link in an email unless you can verify the source. Better safe than sorry!  Instead, type the web address into your browser manually to visit that site.
